* Good luck to the Patrick County High School Fishing Team as they compete this Saturday, from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm in the State Qualifier #3 B.A.S.S. Nation of VA Smith Mountain Lake High School Tournament!  Safe travels and best of luck to all the anglers!!

* The winners of the $20 gift cards from the scholarship workshop is Sydney Wilson and Logan Morrison.  Please come see Mrs. Elmes to claim your prize!

* The March SAT is this Saturday, March 14th at PCHS.  If you registered for this test, make sure that you arrive here at 7:45 with all required materials.  You will receive your printed admissions ticket and a test day reminder today.  If you have any questions or concerns, see Mrs. Elmes today.

* The Interact Club is holding a non-perishable food drive, to help restock local food pantries.
We will be collecting non-perishable food in your homeroom.
Please bring non-perishable food to your homeroom.
The homeroom that collects the most pieces, will win a pizza party to celebrate your generosity.

* Congratulations, to the Lady Cougars Middle School Soccer team, who beat O.T. Bonner last night.  Scorers for the Lady Cougars include Lindsey Jones with 2 goals and Raeli Moran with 1 goal.  Jayden Diehl had two assists for the night Ceci Cisneros and Kendall Epperly had a shut out with 3 saves each in the goal.  The Lady Cougars will face off against Halifax on Wednesday, March 11th.  Kick-off starts at 6:15 at PCHS.

* The Indoor Track team kicked off their season last night at Surry Central High School.  The Cougars notched several top three finishes, including four wins and two automatic state qualifications.
-Girls 4x200 relay team, made up of Erin Keith, Chloe Wright, Mackenzie Belcher, and Katie Brintle, finished first in their race.
-Boys 4x200 relay team, made up of Brandon Rohrbach, Edgar Oliverez, Michael Hamm, and Kristian Reynolds, finished first in their race.  They also set a new school record and automatically qualified for the state championships.
-Katie Brintle won the girls 1,000 meter race.
-Kristian Reynolds won the boys 1,000 meter race.

* Congratulations to the Varsity Football team on their big win Friday night against Halifax County.  This was the 1st time in school history the Cougars beat Halifax in football and with the win the team sealed up a spot in the Region 2-C playoffs and a solid 5-5 regular season record.  Great job Cougars!

* Attention Current Sophomores and Juniors Currently Enrolled in the Gifted Program at PCHS:  It is time for interested students to apply for the Summer Residential Governor's School which focuses on one special area of interest and takes place during the summer of 2020.  During this program, you will live on a college or university campus for up to four weeks each summer.  While there, you will be involved in classroom and laboratory work, field studies, research, individual and group projects and performances, and seminars with noted scholars, visiting artists, and other professionals.  In the three mentorships, students are selected to work side-by-side with research scientists, physicians, and a variety of other professionals. 
The following programs are offered for the summer of 2020:  Agriculture, Humanities, Mathematics, Science & Technology, Medicine & Health Sciences, Engineering, Marine Science, Dance, Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, Theatre, Visual Arts.

* The Patrick County Golf Team finished in 4th place out of 14 schools in the Region 2C Tournament on Monday.  They played at the Old Course in Hot Springs, VA.  Wesley Roberson led the Cougars with a 85, Jalen Hagwood had 87, David Smith had 90, and Taylor Swails had 97.

* The Patrick County Golf Team tied for second place in the Piedmont District Tournament held at Olde Mill Golf Club.  Daniel Smith led the Cougars with a 83, Jalen Hagwood had 86, Wesley Roberson had 92, and Taylor Swails had 101.  Daniel Smith and Jalen Hagwood each made 1st team all-district while Wesley Roberson made 2nd team all-district.  The Cougars will compete in the Region AA Tournament next Monday.

* Big congrats to the JV Lady Cougars Volleyball team for their exciting win over Carroll County last night!  The girls started strong in the first set winning 25-18 and came back from trailing in the second set winning 26-24!  Our Lady Cougars will be hosting this Thursday, September 19th against Martinsville.  Please come out and support our girls with JV at 5:30 and Varsity to follow @ 7.

JV Boys Soccer tied their game, with GW Danville, 0-0 on Friday. Varsity  boys won 4-1.

* Congrats to the Lady Cougars Tennis team for their clean sweep on GW Danville, 9-0!  The girls' next match will be Wednesday, May 1st, where we will be honoring our four seniors, Madison Wright, Emily Wood, Kaylee Stanley, and Skye Mitchell.  Please come out and support our girls this Wednesday.

* Last night Patrick County Middle School be Laurel Park to advance to the Middle School Championship game on Monday!

* Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Soccer team for their 2-1 win last night against Bassett.

* Congrats to the Lady Cougars Tennis team for their 7-2 win over Magna Vista last night.  Madison Wright, Emily Wood, Caroline Vernon, Elleigh Large, and Joelle Holderman earned singles victories over their opponents.  Doubles were won by first seeds Madison Wright and Emily Wood, as well as, Joelle Holderman and Skye Mitchell.  Our final home match will be next Wednesday, May 1st, where we will be honoring our four seniors, Madison Wright, Emily Wood, Kaylee Stanley, and Skye Mitchell.  Please come out and support them for senior night.

* The Jostens class ring representatives will be at school today to assist you in ordering your class ring.  They will be set up outside the Library during all lunches.  There will also be a family night ordering session today, after school, until 6:15 pm in the Library.  A $75 deposit is requested to place your order.  Extra class ring packets are available in the front office as all sophomores, juniors, and seniors are welcome to order.
