Congratulations to our very own Hunter Hubbard for his first place finish with his Karate act in this weekends Patrick County's Got Talent Contest sponsored by the Patrick County Alzheimer's Group. Way to go, Hunter!  
Prom forms are available to pick up in Room 19, Mrs. Rose's room now. Forms are due, along with $20 by April 10th. After this date, it will be $25/ Person to attend this year's Prom. As a reminder, Prom is Saturday, April 20th from 8pm- Midnight at the New College Institute in Martinsville.

Juniors: Join us for ECMC College Night to learn about all things college! Two sessions will be held on March 26th in the PCHS Library. Session 1 will be from 4:00p.m- 5:00p.m and the Session2 will be from 5:15p.m-6:15p.m. Attendees can park in the main parking lot after 3:45p.m in the upper parking lot.

Congratulations to the Girls Soccer team! They defeated Dan River 4-0. Scoring for the Cougars, Camile Gonzales, Kirah Titular, and two by Kendall Williams. The girls will play at Home Friday against Martinsville.

The Boys Soccer team tied last night 2-2 against Dan River. Scoring for Boys team was Vishal Soma and Daniel Betancourt.

Patrick County High School Fishing team is set to compete in State Qualifier! Best of luck to members of the PCHS Fishing Team as they compete against other regional high school teams in the B.A.S.S. NAtion of Virginia State Qualifier tournament at Smith Mountain Lake this up coming weekend. Good luck to all the you anglers. Be safe and bring back PC big wins!

Students from the Cosmetology Class completed in the SkillsUSA Distract Competition last week. The team of Isabella Cisneros, Kaitlyn Puckett, and Myranda Helms won second place in The Total Fantasy Look Competition. Isabella Cisneros and Kaitlyn transformed Myranda into the character Edward Scissorhands. Mrs. Culler said she is really proud of all the students that competed, they all did a great job! The competition is very competitive and all our students did and amazing job!
Come out today, March 1st, at 7p.m for this year's Dodgeball Tournament. It cost $5 dollars to attend and concessions will be made available for purchase. All proceeds will go toward this year's JR/SR Prom. We hope to see you there!

FCA will have a guest speaker today. Professional Football player, Charlie Hatchett will be presenting in the auditorium during Cougar Pride. Members of the PCHS Fishing Team were presented with awards for the 2022-2023 John Crews All Elite Team and The John Crews All Academic Team this past Saturday at the Angler’s Choice Open House.  


Congratulations to Chace Handy and Will Heath for making the John Crews All Elite Team last season. To earn this award, anglers must place in the Top 10 of all Southern division teams at the end of the 2022-2023 season.


Congratulations to Hunter Heath, Jonah Shockley, Evan Havens, Caleb Hostetter, Lacey Sutphin, Eli Wood, Evan Wood, Jacob Spencer, Will Heath, and Tripp Thompson for making the 2022-2023 John Crews All Academic Team last season.  To earn this award, anglers must earn a GPA of 3.0 or higher at the end of the present school year.   Great job everyone, keep up the great work!!

Would you like a free snack?

If you said yes to any of these questions then you need Cougar Den in your life. 

Cougar Den is available to ALL students on Tuesdays and Thursday each week at 3:30 in the library.  

Subject area certified teachers will work with students in all subject areas during this time to provide tutoring, homework help, assistance with missing classwork, or upcoming assignments.  

A free snack is provided for all students attending Cougar Den.  

Buses will run at 6:30PM to return students to their home elementary school.  

All students must fill out the form for Cougar Den for each day they plan to attend or they will not be allowed to stay.

Patrick County High School Fishing team and Patrick County High School FFA Club, in partnership with the Fairy Stone State Park and the Patrick County Soil and Water Conservation District, are collecting live Christmas trees to help with the fish habitat at Fairy Stone Lake. The Wrestling team earned 1st place honor in their annual Cougar Dual Wrestling Tournament this past Saturday. They went 5-0 on the day defeating Chatham, Dan River, Galax, Surry Central, and West Stokes. Ben Knight, Mason Spencer, Aden Frazier, Jackson Iacovone, Adin Gieger, Derrick Brooks, Logan Rakes, Stephen Spencer, Jay Howard, Tyler Cobbler, Ben Conner, Aden Penn, Ryan Penn, John Hicks, Perry Hicks, Josh Jimrusti, Eli Lester, and Dayton Pack all made contributions to help the team earn this 1st Place Honor.

Both Lady Cougars team got victories over Chatham last night! Varsity won 35-27 and JV won 37-7!

The Patrick County High School Cross County team competed in the 2C Regional Championship at Green Hill Park in Salem, VA on November 1st, 2023. The boys team earned the title of 2C Regional Runner Up. They will compete in the VHSL Class 2 State Boys Cross Country meet on Saturday, November 11th, 2023 at Green Hill Park in Salem, VA. Boys earning All Regional Honors are Hunter Martin with an 8th place finish, Fisher Martin in 6th place, and Noah Hiatt who finished 5th place overall. Sadie Martin earned All Regional Honors with a 6th place finish and will compete in the VHSL Class 2 State Girls Cross County meet Saturday, November, 11th, 2023 at Green Hill Park in Salem, VA.

JV & Varsity Lady Cougars
will be having conditioning the rest of the month from 3:30-6:30 on Mondays and Wednesday. This is for anyone interested in playing Girls Basketball this season.

Scholastic Bowl competed at Blacksburg High School in the BHS Invitational tournament this past Saturday. It was a very tough competition with 24 teams from around the Richmond and Roanoke area. We did not do well, but we were not last place. Anyone wanting to be a part of Scholastic Bowl, come to any of our practices. We will be practicing on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

There will be a meeting in the Auditorium for all Varsity Club members who have paid their dues and are planning on participating in the Special Olympics Friday, October, 27th. This meeting will be held Wednesday morning during announcements. A list of these students will be sent out to teachers Tuesday afternoon.

The boys and girls cross country teams
competed in Blacksburg yesterday at the Metro XC Championships.  The boys team finished 8th and the girls team finished 12th out of more than 25 schools. Sadie Martin was 4th overall and was recognized as 1st Team All Metro.  The PC Cross Country Team will compete on November 1st at the Regional Championships.

Congratulations to the PCHS boys and girls Cross County teams! Sadie Martin is the 2023 East Montgomery Invitational Champion, finishing first out of more than 65 other female runners.

The boys team is the 2023 East Montgomery Invitational Overall Team Champions finishing with a meet best of 73 points! The boys team was lead by Hunter Martin in 7th, Fisher Martin in 8th, and Noah Hiatt in 9th.

The Varsity Golf team finished 4th yesterday in the Region 2C tournament. Chance Corns shot 81 and will advance to the 2A State State Tournament next Tuesday at Great Oak County Club. Other scores for the Cougars were Kylee Joyce -89, Lauren Worley -90, and Parker Roop -91.

The PC Cross Country team traveled to Hidden Valley High School Saturday morning. Sadie Martin finished 2nd overall out of more than 80 runners!
Hunter Martin finished 9th, Noah Hiatt 11th, and Fisher Martin 13th out of more than 100 runners!
The boys team also finished 2nd overall out of 16 teams. Congratulations to all!

Teacher: Elizabeth Wood: Libby Wood  has worked tirelessly all summer, Saturdays (w/ seniors painting parking spots), and all students in general to make sure they have a memorable high school experience.  She holds students accountable, but makes sure they know they're loved as well.


Staff: Lakin Crosby:
Mrs. Crosby has successfully stepped into the role of Registrar/Administrative Assistant .  Over the summer she designed bulletin boards for many of our hallways and assisted our summer student interns in creating and putting up those bulletin boards.  She efficiently fulfills requests with a smile.  Problem solving and multi-tasking are great strengths!

Hunter Hubbard: Hunter is  Always happy and shares his smile & kindness with others. He Does a great job with the Weather report. He is the highlight of our Fridays;  He's very kind, and make the weather announcements interesting to watch.

 Cheyenne Clifton -- Cheyenne is So quiet and mannerly.  She can run a front desk like a BOSS!!  :)  She was one of the summer interns here at PCHS and she was phenomenal!  She could walk right into a full-time job right out of high school!  SO, SO proud of her work ethic as a senior!

The Varsity Golf team lost yesterday to Franklin County. Lauren Worley -89, Parker Roop 92,, Chance Corns 93, and Kendra Worley 94. Their next match is Tuesday at home.
The PCHS Cross Country team traveled to the Smith River Complex for the Bengal Clash. The boys team finished 3rd overall out of 20 high schools. Hunter Martin led the way finishing 6th overall out of more than 130 boys. Noah Hiatt was close behind in 10th. On the girls side, Sadie Martin finished 3rd overall out of more than 100 girls. Congrats to all!

Finish the Lyric Fridays are back with all new themes premiering next Friday, September 8th. Our First theme is songs with month or dates in it. Stay Turned!

The Varsity Golf Team defeated Bassett yesterday 321 to 372. Low scores for the Cougars we Chance Corns -74, Lauren Worley -81, Parker Roop -81, and Kendra Worley -85. The Cougars next match is today at Franklin County.

The J.V Golf team finished 2nd in a 4 team match at Oak Hills in Eden. Carter Gregory shot a 42, Riley Belcher 46, Lane Errichetti 48, and Maddox Taylor a 52.

Congratulations to the boys Cross County team! They are your 2023 Southside Cross County Invitational Champions! Hunter Martin le the the team finishing 2nd, Noah Hiatt finished 3rd, Fisher Martin finished 4th, Greely Terry finished 10th, and William Overby finished 14th for a total of 33 points.
