Scholastic Competition for Academic Excellence League
'The purpose of the Scholastic Competition for Academic Excellence League is to encourage, in a variety of ways, the pursuit of academic excellence. The competition began in 1984, and the continuation again this year indicates the importance we are placing on academics. The competition is based upon curricula in the school systems, uses more competitors than most 'College Bowl' type competitions, rewards excellence by both the teams and individual players in a very tangible way, encompasses a large scope of participation and subject matter and is not an academic 'trivia' game, uses all of the external reinforcers that make varsity sports so popular.
The competition program is designed to be enjoyable for the competitors and the audiences alike.
